Java Developer 
BASIC FUNCTION:
Works closely with customers, business analysts, and team members to understand business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions. These solutions must be aligned with business and IT strategies and comply with the organization’s architectural standards. Involved in the full systems life cycle and is responsible for designing, coding, testing, implementing, maintaining and supporting application software that is delivered on time and within budget. Makes recommendations towards the development of new code or reuse of existing code. Responsibilities may also include participation in component and data architecture design, performance monitoring, product evaluation and buy versus build recommendations. Has experience in systems analysis, design and a solid understanding of development, quality assurance and integration methodologies.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1) Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.
2) 5 years of programming/systems analysis experience;
3) Must be proficient in Java, relational databases and SQL
4) Ability to independently solve complex problems;
5) Ability to uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products or services.
6) Ability to lead team members on projects, and acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. 7) Ability to provide system maintenance tasks varying from small to large; from inception to deployment
8) Ability to provide detailed status reports to management and escalate critical problems as necessary
9) Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing across business teams, technical teams and management
10) Must possess a positive can-do attitude
11) Independently solves complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions;

PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Preference will be given to candidates with the following skills, experience, or education:
1) Computer Science degree.
2) Proficiency in J2EE Technologies, Java, HTML, and JSP;
3) Experienced with Spring/Hibernate, Eclipse, Websphere and DOJO
) Possesses basic knowledge of XML;
5) Knowledge using the Spring framework for web applications and CVS;
6) Knowledge on Struts, MVC, open source Java frameworks and technologies, such as Apache Common utility, Ant build file, J Unit testing.
7) Health care or insurance industry experience.
