Welcome to the monthly meeting for Java Developers in the Tulsa area.  Our meeting this month is on January 13th at 6PM.   For January Darren has graciously agreed to talk about something he's quite knowledgeable about - Docker.   For those that aren't aware Docker is a popular lightweight container infrastructure.   Think a extremely lightweight virtual machine.   It makes packaging your application with just the necessary dependencies a breeze.   Darren has presented on this before but with all the new members he was called upon for an Encore.   Unlike this last meeting I don't expect we'll run long so we should have you out by 8 unless we go off on a large number of Tangents.

Thank you to everyone who attended in December and I look forward to seeing as many of you as can make it in January.

Wow time flies when your busy!    I apologize for the late notice but this Wednesday is our monthly meeting.    As its also the holidays please feel free to bring a dessert to share.   We'll have our usual dinner courtesy of Tek Systems but I thought perhaps we could have a bit of a Holiday theme.

This month we'll be continuing on our Android track and once I finish nailing it down I'll update this announcement to have more details.  I look forward to seeing everyone.

I hope everyone has had a good month.  I'm told last months meeting went pretty well and turnout rose again.    I'm looking forward to seeing how we do this month!

This month I'm going to cover Java 8 annotations.  Annotations are a fairly useful thing that have been around for a while but some of the recent additions are fairly useful when just using plain old Java.  I'd also like to get a sense from the group on the kinds of things you might like to see discussed.   We've recently had some new blood so its time to make sure we're serving our groups needs.   Please come with ideas so we can add them to the list.

Happy Anniversary! (well for me at least)  - This month Darren Gibson will be running the meeting as I will be taking my lovely wife on our 25th anniversary vacation!

Darren will be presenting on Design Patterns: " I'll be talking about some basic design patterns that are helpful to Java developers and doing a compare contrast of how they can be implemented in Java vs Scala."

I'm sorry I won't be there but I'm sure this is a useful topic for just about all of us as Design Patterns are pretty much useful no matter what your language preference.
