This months topic will involve a Rasberry PI communicating with our Android Push Service.  Our meetings start at 6pm and include food and a door prize sponsored by Tek Systems.

We will continue on the series of topics that will explore Mobile Backend-As-A-Service and IOT.  Using a  Raspberry PI we will monitor a door using the PI4J API and send a push notification to our Android client when the door is opened.   We will continue  using the provider named "Kii".   Our topic chain will work towards utilizing the Pi as an IOT hub in the home and the BAAS as a communication mechanism.   Eventually we will branch out and look into alternate providers including Googles own services.

Our meetings are on the second Wednesday of the month and start at 6PM and are located at Tulsa Community College Southeast campus In room 4228.   This is located at the intersection of Hwy 169 and 81st Street South.

Schedule:

  • 6:00 - 6:30 arrival and consumption of dinner and dessert courtesy of our generous sponsors at Tek Systems.
  • 6:30 - 6:45 discussion of latest news and group planning
  • 6:45 - 8:00 PM Topic presentation
  • 8:00 PM - Door prize give-away

Walking Directions to room:

Enter through the admin and registration building.  This is located directly in front of the main entrance.  When driving in you will see a very small traffic circle.  The admin building is straight ahead on the left side of the circle.   Enter on the ground floor and walk straight until the corridor bends right.  Take the right and then a left in front of the glass doors.   You will see stairs ahead of you - climb them.   At the top of the stairs you will be at the intersection of 2 corridors.   You want to walk straight ahead (South?) - the pond should be on your right side and you will pass a small security office on the left and then the elevators.   Take the first hallway on your left after the elevators.   Room 4228 is the last classroom on the right hand side of that hall.

Good evening!

Wow time sure flies   This months meeting will be the beginning of a series of topics that will explore Mobile Backend-As-A-Service.   We will work with push notifications for Android using one provider named "Kii".   Over the next 6 months the topic chain will work towards integrating a Raspberry Pi as an IOT device.  We will utilize the PI running PI4J to push notifications to Android and potentially upload files.   I'm envisioning utilizing the Pi as an IOT hub in the home and the BAAS as a communication mechanism.   Eventually we will branch out and look into alternate providers including Googles own services.

Good evening!

I hope everyone is having a excellent summer this far.   This month we will be going over profiling and discussing where it fits in the development life-cycle.   I'll cover a couple of different tools that make profiling easier as well as discussing the different technologies you can employ to accomplish your goals.

In other news this month the following was accomplished:

  • We updated our information with Techlahoma
  • I paid for and created a six month account with Meet-up to see if that will better publish our group.
  • Updated the website event calendar and fixed a couple of issues we had with facebook comments intruding.
